Uma TV com função de arte/ A TV with art function

Ela é uma TV ou um quadro? The Frame, da Samsung, pode ser tanto TV como quadro. Quando ligada, é uma TV comum. Desligada, é uma obra de arte, um objeto de decoração – o display passa para Art Mode e, em vez de ficar preto, mostra pinturas e/ou fotografias. O projeto desta televisão inteligente é do estúdio Fuseproject, de Yves Béhar./ Is it a TV or a picture? The Frame, by Samsung, can be both TV and picture. When turned on, it is a common TV. Turned off, it is a work of art, an object of decoration – the display goes into Art Mode and, rather than going black, it shows paintings and/or photographs. The project of this smart television is by Fuseproject, Yves Béhar’s studio.

Para seu segundo propósito, ela possui três modalidades de uso: Samsung Collection, com 100 obras de arte que já vão com a TV; The Frame Store, uma loja de arte virtual onde os consumidores podem comprar obras à la carte ou inscrever-se mensalmente para obter acesso a pinturas e fotografias de artistas renomados, como Monet e Kandinsky, de todo o mundo; e My Collection, onde o consumidor pode personalizar e exibir fotos pessoais./For its second purpose, it has three modes of use: Samsung Collection, which delivers 100 works of art already shipped on the TV; The Frame Store, a virtual art store where consumers can buy arts a la carte or monthly sign up to gain access to paintings and photographs of renowned artists, such as Monet and Kandinsky, from around the world; and My Collection, where the consumer can customize and display personal photos.

Para a função Art Mode, a Samsung recrutou a ajuda da curadora Elise Van Middelm. Ela trouxe consigo uma série de artistas, incluindo Luisa Lambri, Barry McGee e Todd Eberle, que tiveram obras convertidas especialmente para a tela./ For the Art Mode function, Samsung enlisted the help of curator Elise Van Middelm. She brought with her a number of artists, including Luisa Lambri, Barry McGee, and Todd Eberle, who had works converted especially for the screen.

Cada obra de arte é escaneada e convertida em formato digital. Além disso, o sensor de brilho ajusta a imagem com base na iluminação da sala, de modo que as obras de arte pareçam físicas e, não, digitais./ Each artwork is scanned and converted into a digital format. In addition, the brightness sensor adjusts the image based on the room lighting, so that the artworks seem to be physical and not digital.

A TV fica plana contra a parede e só não mostra as obras de arte quando ninguém está na sala para apreciá-las./ The TV sits flat against the wall and does not show the artworks only when nobody is in the room to appreciate them.

“Ao invés de projetar um produto que só ganha vida ao assistir entretenimento, nós começamos a pensar em um display que oferecesse nova inspiração em nossas vidas”, diz Béhar. “E se a TV em minha casa liberasse uma experiência diferente? E se a TV desaparecesse na decoração quando não estivesse em uso?”, acrescenta./ “Rather than designing a product that only comes to life when watching entertainment, we began to think about a display that offers new inspiration in our lives,” says Béhar. “What if the TV display in my home delivered a different experience? What if the TV disappeared in the decor when it’s not in use?,” he adds.

Béhar consultou moldureiros de alguns dos museus mais prestigiados do mundo. A moldura da televisão está disponível nestas cores: branco, preto e madeira./ Béhar consulted framers from some of the world’s most prestigious museums. The television’s frame is available in these colors: white, black, and wood.

Além de sua função de arte, The Frame é uma TV UHD 4K – permitindo que você veja mais detalhes de imagens e texturas./ Besides its art function, The Frame is a 4K UHD TV – letting you see more image details and textures.

Assim, o televisor torna-se menos óbvio, particularmente em casas e apartamentos pequenos. Com The Frame (já no mercado brasileiro), é o fim da tela preta da TV, quando alguém está no ambiente. O aparelho está desligado, mas a arte está lá./ So, the TV set becomes less obvious, particularly in small houses and apartments.
